    Product Description:
Ciprofloxacin lactate is a pharmaceutical salt formed by combining the broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic ciprofloxacin with lactic acid. This formulation is primarily used to enhance the solubility and bioavailability of the parent drug, ciprofloxacin, for parenteral administration. As a derivative of ciprofloxacin, its primary application is as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in injectable formulations. It exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, enzymes critical for DNA replication, transcription, and repair. This makes it effective against a wide range of Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria. The lactate salt form is specifically developed for intravenous infusion, allowing for rapid delivery in hospital settings for the treatment of severe infections such as complicated urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. It is not a common synthetic building block but a finished drug substance designed for specific therapeutic use.
