    Product Description:
Sacubitril/valsartan (LCZ696) is a supramolecular sodium salt complex co-crystal composed of the neprilysin inhibitor prodrug sacubitril (AHU377) and the angiotensin II receptor blocker valsartan in a 1:1 molar ratio. This dual-acting agent represents a novel class of cardiovascular therapeutics. Its primary and well-defined application is in the treatment of chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). The co-crystal formulation allows for the simultaneous inhibition of neprilysin (via the active metabolite of sacubitril, LBQ657) and blockade of the angiotensin II type 1 receptor (by valsartan). This dual mechanism promotes beneficial vasodilation, natriuresis, and counteracts maladaptive neurohormonal activation, leading to reduced cardiovascular mortality and hospitalization rates. Marketed under the brand name Entresto, it is a finished pharmaceutical product and a key active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). Its classification is firmly within the cardiovascular drug category, with no significant utility as a general-purpose chemical reagent or synthesis building block.
