    Product Description:
Ractopamine hydrochloride is a phenethanolamine β-adrenergic agonist. It is a white or off-white crystalline powder that is soluble in water. Its primary and most significant application is as a feed additive for livestock, specifically swine, cattle, and turkeys. It functions as a repartitioning agent, redirecting nutrients from fat deposition to lean muscle (protein) synthesis, thereby improving feed efficiency, increasing carcass leanness, and promoting growth rate. Due to safety concerns regarding potential residues in meat affecting human cardiovascular health, its use is banned in food-producing animals in many countries and regions, including the European Union, China, and Russia. However, it is approved for use in several other countries, such as the United States, Canada, and Japan, with strict withdrawal periods before slaughter. In a veterinary pharmaceutical context, it is considered an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) for animal use. Its handling requires caution as it may cause adverse effects like tachycardia in humans upon exposure.
