    Product Description:
Pulegone, also known as L-pulegone, is a naturally occurring monoterpenoid ketone. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic minty, camphoraceous, and slightly herbaceous odor. Its chemical structure is based on a p-menthane skeleton with a ketone group and an endocyclic double bond. Pulegone is a key fragrance ingredient and flavoring agent. It is a major component of the essential oils of pennyroyal (*Mentha pulegium*) and certain mint species, contributing to their characteristic aroma. It is widely used in the fragrance industry for creating minty, herbal, and spicy notes in perfumes, cosmetics, soaps, and detergents. It is also employed as a flavoring agent in food products, beverages, and oral care items like toothpaste and mouthwash. However, pulegone is subject to significant regulatory scrutiny due to safety concerns. It has been identified as hepatotoxic and neurotoxic in animal studies. Consequently, its use in food and cosmetics is restricted in many regions, with maximum permitted levels established by organizations such as the FDA, EFSA, and IFRA. Its primary industrial use remains in fragrance compositions where it is used at controlled, low concentrations.
