    Product Description:
Sodium pyrophosphate, also known as tetrasodium pyrophosphate (TSPP), is an inorganic compound with the formula Na₄P₂O₇. It exists in both anhydrous and decahydrate forms. This white, water-soluble powder is a member of the polyphosphate family. Its primary industrial application is as a water softener and sequestrant in water treatment processes, where it effectively binds calcium and magnesium ions to prevent scale formation. It is also widely used as a buffering agent, emulsifier, and dispersant in the food industry (e.g., in processed meats and seafood). Furthermore, it serves as a cleaning agent in household and industrial detergents and finds use in metal treatment and ceramic production. In laboratory and synthetic chemistry, anhydrous sodium pyrophosphate functions as a source of the pyrophosphate anion (P₂O₇⁴⁻). It is employed as a buffering agent, a component in some biochemical assays, and a reagent in inorganic synthesis, particularly in the preparation of other metal pyrophosphates.
