    Product Description:
Phenyl dichlorophosphate is an organophosphorus compound with the chemical formula C6H5OP(O)Cl2. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a pungent odor, sensitive to moisture and hydrolyzes readily. It serves as a versatile reagent in organic synthesis, primarily functioning as a phosphorylating and chlorinating agent. Its most significant application is in the synthesis of phosphate esters, phosphoramidates, and phosphonates. It is extensively used as a key reagent for the preparation of nucleoside phosphoramidites, which are crucial building blocks in the automated solid-phase synthesis of oligonucleotides (DNA/RNA). Additionally, it finds use in the synthesis of agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and flame retardants. Due to its high reactivity, especially with water and alcohols, it must be handled under anhydrous conditions, typically in a glove box or using Schlenk techniques. It is corrosive and causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Proper personal protective equipment and adequate ventilation are essential during its use.
