    Product Description:
This compound, with CAS number 74874-10-5, is a synthetic peptide derivative known as **Omapatrilat**. It is a potent, dual-acting vasopeptidase inhibitor designed to simultaneously inhibit both angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) and neutral endopeptidase (NEP). Its complex structure incorporates a modified amino acid sequence with a nitroguanidino group and a quinoline sulfonamide moiety, which are critical for its dual inhibitory activity. Omapatrilat was developed as an investigational antihypertensive and cardiovascular drug. By inhibiting ACE, it reduces the production of the vasoconstrictor angiotensin II, while its NEP inhibition increases levels of natriuretic peptides, promoting vasodilation, natriuresis, and diuresis. This dual mechanism was theorized to offer superior blood pressure control and potential benefits in heart failure compared to ACE inhibitors alone. Despite promising efficacy in clinical trials, its development was discontinued due to an increased incidence of angioedema, a serious side effect linked to its potent NEP inhibition.
