    Product Description:
Corynoxine is a major indole alkaloid isolated from the traditional medicinal plant *Uncaria rhynchophylla* (Gou-Teng). It belongs to the oxindole alkaloid family and exists as a pair of stereoisomers, corynoxine and corynoxine B. The compound is characterized by a complex tetracyclic structure containing an oxindole core. Extensive pharmacological studies have identified corynoxine as a bioactive natural product with significant neuroprotective and autophagy-enhancing properties. It is reported to promote the clearance of misfolded proteins, such as α-synuclein and mutant huntingtin, by inducing autophagy, which is a critical cellular degradation pathway. This mechanism underpins its research interest as a potential therapeutic agent for neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. Its activity is often studied alongside its isomer corynoxine B. Due to its origin from a well-known medicinal herb and its direct, potent biological activity on central nervous system targets, corynoxine is primarily regarded as a promising lead compound or a potential active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) candidate in neuroscience drug discovery, rather than a general synthetic building block.
