    Product Description:
Diethyl vinylphosphonate is an organophosphorus compound characterized by a vinyl group directly attached to a phosphonate ester moiety. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with the molecular formula C6H13O3P. Its primary and most significant application is as a key monomer in polymer chemistry. It is copolymerized with other vinyl monomers (such as acrylates or styrene) to introduce phosphonate functional groups into polymer chains. These phosphorus-containing polymers exhibit valuable properties, including excellent adhesion to metal surfaces (e.g., steel, aluminum), flame retardancy, and the ability to chelate metal ions. Consequently, they are widely used in the formulation of corrosion-resistant coatings, metal pretreatment agents, and as scale inhibitors in water treatment. As a versatile synthetic building block, diethyl vinylphosphonate participates in important organic reactions, most notably the Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons (HWE) olefination, where it serves as a reagent for the synthesis of α,β-unsaturated phosphonates and related compounds. It is a commercially important intermediate in both materials science and specialty chemical synthesis.
