    Product Description:
Amodiaquine hydrochloride is a 4-aminoquinoline derivative, chemically known as 4-[(7-chloro-4-quinolinyl)amino]-2-[(diethylamino)methyl]phenol dihydrochloride dihydrate. It is a yellow crystalline powder that is soluble in water. It is a well-established antimalarial drug, primarily used for the treatment of uncomplicated malaria caused by *Plasmodium falciparum*, often in combination with artesunate (ASAQ). Its mechanism of action involves interfering with the parasite's ability to detoxify heme within its digestive vacuole, leading to toxic accumulation and parasite death. It is particularly valued in regions with chloroquine-resistant malaria. While effective, its use is associated with a risk of hepatotoxicity and agranulocytosis, especially with prolonged prophylactic use. Therefore, it is now primarily recommended for treatment rather than prophylaxis. It remains a critical component of the World Health Organization's essential medicines list for malaria.
