    Product Description:
Ammonium (S)-5-(4-amino-4-carboxybutanamido)-2-nitrobenzoate, also known as L-ж├-glutamyl-3-carboxy-4-nitroanilide ammonium salt, is a chromogenic substrate specifically designed for the detection and quantification of ж├-glutamyl transferase (GGT) activity. Structurally, it consists of a ж├-glutamyl moiety linked to a 3-carboxy-4-nitroaniline chromophore. Upon enzymatic cleavage by GGT, the free 3-carboxy-4-nitroaniline is released, which can be measured spectrophotometrically at approximately 405 nm. This compound is widely used in clinical diagnostics and biochemical research for liver function tests and the study of glutathione metabolism. It is typically classified as a peptide-like substrate and an amino acid derivative due to its glutamic acid backbone.
