    Product Description:
N-Benzoyl-L-tyrosine p-nitroanilide (Bz-Tyr-pNA, CAS 6154-45-6) is a chromogenic peptide substrate. It is a synthetic amide derivative where the N-terminal amino group of L-tyrosine is protected by a benzoyl group, and the C-terminal carboxyl group is coupled to p-nitroaniline. This compound is primarily used as a specific substrate for the detection and kinetic assay of the proteolytic enzyme α-chymotrypsin. The enzyme cleaves the amide bond between the tyrosine residue and the p-nitroaniline moiety. This hydrolysis reaction releases free p-nitroaniline, which is yellow in color and can be quantified spectrophotometrically at around 405-410 nm. This property makes it a standard tool in enzymology for studying protease activity, inhibition, and enzyme kinetics. Due to its defined structure and reactivity, it also serves as a specialized synthetic building block in peptide chemistry and biochemical research. It is a high-purity reagent intended for research use.
