    Product Description:
Aurin, also known as Rosolic acid or 4-[Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)methylene]-2,5-cyclohexadien-1-one, is a triphenylmethane dye derivative. It exists as a dark red to brown powder or crystalline solid and is sparingly soluble in water but soluble in alcohols and alkaline solutions. Its primary industrial application is as a key intermediate in the synthesis of various triphenylmethane dyes and pigments. These dyes are widely used in the textile, paper, and leather industries for coloring purposes. Furthermore, aurin serves as a pH indicator, changing color from yellow (acidic) to red (alkaline) around pH 6.8-8.2, which finds use in analytical chemistry and laboratory settings. Beyond its role as a dye precursor and indicator, aurin has been investigated in materials science research, particularly in the development of organic semiconductors and photoelectronic materials due to its conjugated π-electron system. It also finds niche applications as a biological stain in microscopy.
