    Product Description:
Tricyclohexylphosphonium tetrafluoroborate is an air-stable, crystalline salt derived from tricyclohexylphosphine. Its primary function is as a precursor to the highly active, yet air-sensitive, tertiary phosphine ligand, tricyclohexylphosphine (PCy3). The tetrafluoroborate salt form offers significant advantages in handling and storage compared to the free phosphine. The compound is extensively used in organometallic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis. Upon deprotonation with a suitable base, it generates the free PCy3 ligand in situ. PCy3 is a crucial component in numerous transition metal-catalyzed reactions, most notably in cross-coupling reactions (e.g., Suzuki, Heck, Negishi couplings) and olefin metathesis, where it serves as a robust and electron-donating ligand for catalysts based on palladium, ruthenium, and other metals. Its stability and role as a convenient ligand source make it a valuable reagent for research and development in synthetic organic chemistry and materials science, particularly where the handling of pyrophoric or highly air-sensitive phosphines is impractical.
