    Product Description:
(-)-Scopolamine hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of the tropane alkaloid scopolamine. It is a non-selective muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist. The compound is a white crystalline powder and is the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) form commonly used in pharmaceutical formulations. Its primary medical application is in the treatment of motion sickness, often administered via transdermal patches. It is also used preoperatively to reduce salivary and bronchial secretions and to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with anesthesia and surgery. Furthermore, it finds use in ophthalmology for pupil dilation (cycloplegia) and in the management of certain gastrointestinal spasms. Due to its potent central nervous system effects, it must be used under strict medical supervision. It is listed on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines. The compound is typically derived from plants of the Solanaceae family (e.g., *Datura* species) or produced via semi-synthesis.
