    Product Description:
1,4-Pentadien-3-one, 1,5-diphenyl-, commonly known as dibenzylideneacetone, is an organic compound with the formula (C6H5CH=CH)2CO. Structurally, it features a central ketone group conjugated with two phenyl-substituted alkene units, forming a cross-conjugated system. This yellow crystalline solid is a classic organic synthesis building block, particularly valued for its conjugated dienone structure. Its primary application is as a ligand precursor in the synthesis of homogeneous catalysts, most notably the Wilkinson's catalyst derivative, tris(dibenzylideneacetone)dipalladium(0) (Pd2(dba)3). This palladium complex is a cornerstone in cross-coupling reactions such as the Suzuki, Heck, and Stille reactions. The dba ligand stabilizes the zero-valent metal center while being labile enough to dissociate and allow substrate coordination. Additionally, due to its extended ж╨-conjugation, dibenzylideneacetone and its derivatives are investigated as building blocks for organic semiconductors, including hole-transport materials and photoactive layers in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic photovoltaics (OPVs).
