    Product Description:
Trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride is a synthetic anticholinergic agent, chemically known as α-cyclohexyl-α-phenyl-1-piperidinepropanol hydrochloride. It is a white, crystalline powder that is freely soluble in water and alcohol. This compound is primarily used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and drug-induced extrapyramidal symptoms. It functions as a competitive antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (M1), helping to restore the balance between acetylcholine and dopamine in the basal ganglia, thereby alleviating tremors, rigidity, and other motor symptoms associated with parkinsonism. Trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride is typically administered orally in tablet form. Common side effects are related to its anticholinergic properties and may include dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, and urinary retention. It is listed in various pharmacopoeias, including the USP and BP, and is considered a first-generation antiparkinsonian drug.
