    Product Description:
Sclareol is a natural diterpene alcohol, specifically a labdane diterpenoid. It is a key aromatic constituent found in the essential oil of clary sage (*Salvia sclarea*), from which it derives its name. Sclareol is a white crystalline solid with a characteristic woody, amber-like, and slightly balsamic odor. Its primary industrial application is in the fragrance and flavor industry. Sclareol serves as a valuable starting material for the semi-synthesis of Ambrox® (Ambroxan), a highly prized and widely used ambergris-type fragrance fixative and odorant in perfumery. It is also used directly as a fragrance ingredient, imparting its unique scent profile to various cosmetic and personal care formulations. Furthermore, sclareol and its derivatives are explored as flavoring agents in food and beverages. Beyond its olfactory uses, sclareol has attracted significant research interest due to its diverse biological activities. Studies have reported its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and particularly its cytotoxic properties against various cancer cell lines, positioning it as a promising candidate for pharmaceutical development. It is generally considered safe for use in fragrances at regulated concentrations.
