    Product Description:
(+)-Sparteine is a lupin alkaloid, specifically a tetracyclic bis-quinolizidine alkaloid. It is a chiral, non-racemic compound that exists as a colorless to pale yellow liquid. It is a natural product primarily isolated from plants of the *Lupinus* and *Cytisus* genera. Historically, (+)-sparteine has been investigated for its pharmacological properties, including antiarrhythmic and oxytocic effects. However, its most significant modern application is in organic synthesis as a chiral ligand and base. It forms complexes with lithium and zinc, and these sparteine-lithium complexes are widely used in asymmetric deprotonation reactions, such as the enantioselective lithiation of prochiral substrates. This makes it a valuable tool for the construction of chiral centers. While its direct use as a pharmaceutical active ingredient is limited, it remains an important reagent in asymmetric synthesis and a classic example of a naturally occurring chiral diamine. It is typically handled under inert atmosphere due to its sensitivity.
