    Product Description:
Scyllo-inositol, also known as scyllitol, is a stereoisomer of inositol. It is a naturally occurring cyclitol, a polyhydroxy cycloalkane, with the molecular formula C6H12O6. Unlike the more common myo-inositol, scyllo-inositol features a unique symmetrical structure where all six hydroxyl groups are in an equatorial configuration. Its primary significance lies in biomedical research and potential therapeutic applications. Scyllo-inositol has been extensively studied as a potential disease-modifying agent for Alzheimer's disease. It is believed to act by binding to and inhibiting the formation of toxic soluble amyloid-beta (Aβ) oligomers, which are central to the disease's pathology. This has positioned it as a promising candidate in neuropharmacology. Beyond its pharmaceutical potential, scyllo-inositol is also found in certain foods and is considered a bioactive compound. It is present in coconut water and the Indian gooseberry (Amla). As a stable inositol isomer, it is explored as a component in dietary supplements and functional foods, contributing to its classification as a nutritional additive.
