    Product Description:
4-Nitrophenyl N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminide is a chromogenic substrate widely used in biochemical and clinical research. It is a synthetic glycoside derivative where 4-nitrophenol is linked via a β-glycosidic bond to N-acetyl-β-D-glucosamine (GlcNAc). Its primary application is as a substrate for the enzyme N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAGase). When NAGase cleaves the glycosidic bond, it releases the yellow-colored 4-nitrophenolate ion, which can be quantified spectrophotometrically at around 405 nm. This reaction forms the basis for sensitive and convenient colorimetric assays. NAGase activity is a clinically important biomarker, particularly for monitoring renal tubular damage and certain lysosomal storage disorders. Due to its specific enzymatic reactivity, this compound is a key reagent in diagnostic kits and research tools for measuring NAGase activity in biological samples such as urine and serum. It is not typically used as a general synthetic building block but is specialized for enzymatic studies and diagnostic applications.
