    Product Description:
(R)-Salbutamol is the (R)-enantiomer of salbutamol (albuterol). It is a short-acting β2-adrenergic receptor agonist (SABA). The compound exists as a racemic mixture in the commonly used drug formulations, but the (R)-enantiomer is responsible for the majority of the desired bronchodilatory activity. The primary and definitive application of (R)-salbutamol is as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in medications for the treatment and prevention of bronchospasm in conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works by selectively stimulating β2-adrenergic receptors in the airway smooth muscle, leading to relaxation and dilation of the airways. While the racemate is widely used, research into the single (R)-enantiomer (known as levalbuterol) aims to provide the therapeutic benefit with potentially reduced side effects associated with the inactive (S)-enantiomer. As a specific, chirally pure drug substance with a well-defined therapeutic endpoint, it is classified squarely within the pharmaceutical domain. It is not considered a general-purpose synthetic building block or reagent.
