    Product Description:
(+)-Menthone is a monoterpenoid ketone and a key constituent of peppermint and other mint oils. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic minty, cooling odor, less intense than menthol. Its chemical structure is based on a p-menthane skeleton with a ketone group at the C3 position. The primary application of (+)-menthone is as a flavor and fragrance ingredient. It is widely used in the formulation of perfumes, cosmetics, toiletries, and oral care products (e.g., toothpaste, mouthwash) to impart a fresh, minty aroma and cooling sensation. It also serves as a key intermediate in the synthesis of other important flavor compounds like menthol, particularly (-)-menthol, through hydrogenation processes. While generally recognized as safe for use in fragrances, it should be handled with standard laboratory precautions. Its commercial importance lies in the flavor and fragrance industry, where natural and synthetic mint notes are in high demand for consumer products.
