    Product Description:
1,4,8,11-Tetraazacyclotetradecane, commonly known as cyclam, is a macrocyclic polyamine compound. It serves as a fundamental building block in supramolecular and coordination chemistry. Its structure features a 14-membered ring with four nitrogen donor atoms, making it an excellent chelating ligand for a wide range of metal ions, particularly transition metals like nickel(II), copper(II), and cobalt(III). The primary application of cyclam is as a versatile precursor for synthesizing functional macrocyclic complexes. These complexes are extensively studied and utilized in areas such as molecular recognition, catalysis, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents, and radiopharmaceuticals for cancer diagnosis and therapy (e.g., copper-64 labeled cyclam derivatives). Its ability to form stable complexes also makes it relevant in materials science for creating metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and in separation technologies for selective ion binding. Cyclam and its derivatives are also investigated for their biological activities, including antiviral and anticancer properties, due to their metal-chelating abilities which can interfere with cellular processes. As a polyamine, it falls under the broad category of amine-based organic synthesis building blocks.
