    Product Description:
D-Luciferin is a heterocyclic carboxylic acid and the natural substrate for the enzyme luciferase, derived from the firefly *Photinus pyralis*. It is a key component in bioluminescence imaging (BLI) technology. Its primary application is as an injectable reagent for in vivo and in vitro bioluminescence assays. Upon administration and in the presence of ATP, Mg²⁺, and oxygen, D-luciferin is catalyzed by luciferase to produce oxyluciferin and emit visible light (~560 nm). This property makes it indispensable for non-invasive, real-time monitoring of biological processes in living animals, widely used in oncology research (e.g., tracking tumor growth and metastasis), gene expression studies, drug efficacy evaluation, and stem cell research. D-Luciferin is also utilized as a highly sensitive and quantitative reporter molecule in cell-based assays, high-throughput screening (HTS), and molecular biology. Its potassium salt form is commonly used to improve aqueous solubility for in vivo applications.
