    Product Description:
Benzoin dimethyl ether (BDME), also known as 2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenylacetophenone, is a solid organic compound with the molecular formula C16H16O3. It is a derivative of benzoin and belongs to the class of aromatic ketones. It is a white to pale yellow crystalline powder. Its primary and most significant application is as a highly efficient photoinitiator in ultraviolet (UV) curing systems. Upon exposure to UV light, it undergoes cleavage (Norrish Type I reaction) to generate free radicals, which initiate the polymerization of monomers and oligomers, such as acrylates and methacrylates. This property makes it crucial for coatings, inks, adhesives, and photoresists. It is also used in the synthesis of certain organic materials. BDME is known for its high photosensitivity and good solubility in common organic solvents. As a photoinitiator, it is particularly valued in applications requiring surface curing. It is important to handle it with care, avoiding prolonged light exposure and skin contact.
