    Product Description:
Lithium triethylborohydride, commonly known as Superhydride®, is a powerful and versatile reducing agent with the chemical formula Li(C₂H₅)₃BH. It is commercially available as a solution in tetrahydrofuran (THF), typically at concentrations of 1.0 M. This organoborohydride reagent is significantly more reactive than sodium borohydride (NaBH₄) and lithium aluminum hydride (LiAlH₄) for many transformations. Its primary application is in organic synthesis as a highly selective and potent reducing agent. It efficiently reduces a wide range of functional groups, including aldehydes, ketones, acid chlorides, epoxides, lactones, and alkyl halides. A key advantage of Superhydride® is its ability to reduce sterically hindered ketones and its chemoselectivity, often leaving esters, amides, and nitriles intact under controlled conditions. It is also widely used for the reductive dehalogenation of alkyl halides and in the reduction of organometallic complexes. As a pyrophoric and moisture-sensitive reagent, it must be handled under an inert atmosphere (argon or nitrogen) using strict Schlenk-line or glovebox techniques. Its exceptional reactivity makes it a staple in research laboratories and fine chemical synthesis for constructing complex molecular architectures where milder reductants are ineffective.
