    Product Description:
4-Aminophenyl β-D-glucopyranoside is a synthetic glycoside derivative consisting of a β-D-glucopyranose moiety linked to a 4-aminophenyl aglycone. It serves as a crucial chromogenic substrate for the enzyme β-glucosidase. The enzymatic hydrolysis of the glycosidic bond by β-glucosidase releases 4-aminophenol, which can be readily oxidized to a colored quinone imine product in the presence of suitable oxidizing agents, enabling sensitive spectrophotometric detection and quantification of enzyme activity. This compound is extensively used in biochemical research and clinical diagnostics for the assay of β-glucosidase activity. It is particularly important in the diagnosis of Gaucher disease, a lysosomal storage disorder caused by a deficiency in the enzyme glucocerebrosidase (a specific form of β-glucosidase). The measurement of residual enzyme activity in leukocytes or fibroblasts using this substrate is a key diagnostic tool. Furthermore, it is employed as a standard or reference material in the development and validation of diagnostic kits and in quality control for related pharmaceutical products.
