    Product Description:
Flucloxacillin sodium is a semisynthetic, narrow-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the penicillin class. It is the sodium salt of flucloxacillin, characterized by its isoxazolyl side chain which confers resistance to degradation by bacterial beta-lactamase enzymes, particularly those produced by *Staphylococcus aureus*. Its primary and most significant application is as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive organisms. It is specifically indicated for infections due to beta-lactamase-producing staphylococci, including skin and soft tissue infections, osteomyelitis, and endocarditis. Flucloxacillin is also a key agent in the treatment of neurosyphilis, often used in combination with other antibiotics, which justifies its secondary classification under nervous system drugs. Administration is typically via oral or intravenous routes. A notable safety concern associated with flucloxacillin is the risk of drug-induced liver injury (cholestatic hepatitis), which, although rare, can be severe. It remains a critical antibiotic in regions with a high prevalence of penicillinase-producing staphylococci.
