    Product Description:
4,4'-Oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA, CAS 1823-59-2) is a high-purity aromatic dianhydride monomer. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder with a molecular formula of C₁₆H₆O₇. Its structure features two phthalic anhydride units connected by an ether linkage, which imparts flexibility and thermal stability. The primary and most significant application of ODPA is as a key monomer for the synthesis of high-performance polyimides (PIs). These polyimides are widely used in the electronics industry as flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) substrates, coverlays, and interlayer dielectric films due to their excellent thermal resistance, mechanical strength, and good electrical properties. Furthermore, ODPA-based polyimides are crucial materials for the alignment layers in liquid crystal displays (LCDs). It also serves as a precursor for polyimide-based materials used in organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices, particularly for flexible substrates and encapsulation layers. ODPA-derived polymers are valued for their balance of processability and final material properties. The ether linkage in its structure helps to improve the solubility of the resulting polyimides in certain organic solvents compared to more rigid dianhydrides, facilitating processing. Handling requires standard precautions for anhydrides, including protection from moisture to prevent hydrolysis to the corresponding tetraacid.
