    Product Description:
Meso-Butane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride is a bicyclic aliphatic dianhydride. It is a white to off-white crystalline powder with the molecular formula C8H6O6. This compound is a structural isomer of bicyclo[2.2.2]oct-7-ene-2,3,5,6-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTA), featuring a meso configuration. Its primary and most significant application is as a key monomer for the synthesis of high-performance polyimides. When reacted with diamines, it yields polyimides with excellent thermal stability, mechanical strength, and good solubility in organic solvents. These properties make it valuable for producing advanced materials used in electronics, such as flexible printed circuit boards, semiconductor coatings, and high-temperature adhesives. The "meso" configuration can influence the polymer's chain packing and final material properties. As a versatile dianhydride building block, it is also used in organic synthesis to introduce rigid, multi-functional moieties. It serves as a precursor for other functional materials, including epoxy resin hardeners and cross-linking agents. Handling requires standard precautions for acid anhydrides, including protection from moisture to prevent hydrolysis to the corresponding tetracarboxylic acid.
