    Product Description:
Prednisolone sodium succinate is a water-soluble ester prodrug of prednisolone, a synthetic glucocorticoid. It is formed by esterifying the 21-hydroxy group of prednisolone with succinic acid, followed by conversion to its sodium salt. This modification significantly enhances its aqueous solubility, making it suitable for intravenous or intramuscular administration. Its primary application is as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) for the rapid and potent treatment of severe inflammatory and allergic conditions, including acute asthma attacks, anaphylaxis, and exacerbations of autoimmune diseases. It is also used in the management of adrenal insufficiency and certain hematologic disorders. The compound exerts its effects by binding to glucocorticoid receptors, leading to the modulation of gene expression, suppression of inflammatory mediators, and inhibition of immune cell function. As a prodrug, prednisolone sodium succinate is rapidly hydrolyzed in vivo to release the active prednisolone. It is a critical agent in emergency and hospital settings where immediate systemic corticosteroid action is required. Handling requires precautions typical for potent corticosteroids.
