    Product Description:
1,5-Anhydro-D-glucitol, also known as 1,5-anhydroglucitol or 1,5-AG, is a polyol derivative of glucose. It is a naturally occurring monosaccharide derivative found in the human body and various foods. Structurally, it is a 1-deoxy form of glucose, where the anomeric hydroxyl group is replaced by a hydrogen atom. Its primary industrial and commercial application is as a low-calorie, non-cariogenic (non-cariogenic) sweetener and bulking agent. It exhibits about 60-70% of the sweetness of sucrose and has a clean, sugar-like taste with minimal aftertaste. Due to its high stability, low hygroscopicity, and good solubility, it is used in the formulation of sugar-free and reduced-calorie food products, chewing gums, candies, and pharmaceuticals. In the medical field, it serves as a functional excipient, particularly in chewable tablets and oral care products, leveraging its sweetening and texturizing properties. Notably, in clinical diagnostics, serum 1,5-AG levels are a well-established short-term marker for monitoring glycemic control, specifically postprandial hyperglycemia, in patients with diabetes. This application is distinct from its use as a bulk sweetener.
