    Product Description:
Γ-Mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane is an organosilane coupling agent characterized by a triethoxysilyl group at one end and a mercapto (-SH) group at the other. This bifunctional structure allows it to act as a molecular bridge between inorganic substrates and organic polymers. Its primary and most significant application is in the field of surface modification and functional coatings. The silane end hydrolyzes to form silanols that can chemically bond to glass, metals, and mineral surfaces. The thiol group can then participate in reactions, such as thiol-ene click chemistry or coordination with metal surfaces, to introduce specific functionalities or enhance adhesion for coatings, sealants, adhesives, and rubber composites. It is widely used as an adhesion promoter in tire manufacturing (silica-filled rubber) and in glass fiber-reinforced plastics. Due to its reactive thiol and hydrolyzable alkoxysilane groups, it also serves as a versatile synthetic building block in organic and materials chemistry for constructing more complex silane-based molecules or functionalized materials.
