    Product Description:
Carmoterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenoceptor agonist (LABA). It is a potent and selective agonist for the β2-adrenergic receptor, which is primarily expressed in bronchial smooth muscle cells. Its chemical structure is based on a phenylethanolamine core, featuring a carbostyril (quinolinone) moiety, which contributes to its long duration of action. The primary and most researched application of Carmoterol is in the treatment of respiratory diseases, particularly asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). By stimulating β2-adrenergic receptors in the airways, it induces smooth muscle relaxation, leading to bronchodilation and improved airflow. While its development has been primarily focused on pulmonary delivery, the mechanism of β2-adrenergic agonism also has implications for cardiovascular modulation, as these receptors are present in vascular and cardiac tissue, influencing heart rate and contractility. This dual-site activity underpins its classification. Carmoterol has been extensively studied in clinical trials for inhalation therapy. It demonstrates a rapid onset and a prolonged effect compared to some other LABAs. However, its development and regulatory approval status have varied across different regions and over time, with some programs discontinued.
