    Product Description:
Tetrahydrofuran-borane complex is an organoboron compound, specifically a borane complex where borane (BH₃) is coordinated to tetrahydrofuran (THF). It is typically supplied as a solution in THF, often at concentrations like 1.0 M. This complex serves as a stable and convenient source of borane for various synthetic transformations. Its primary application is as a versatile reducing agent and hydroboration reagent in organic synthesis. It is widely used for the selective reduction of carboxylic acids to primary alcohols and for the reduction of amides, nitriles, and epoxides. Furthermore, it is a key reagent in hydroboration-oxidation reactions of alkenes and alkynes to produce alcohols and aldehydes, respectively, with anti-Markovnikov regioselectivity. These reactions are fundamental in the synthesis of complex molecules, including pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. As a borane source, it is generally easier and safer to handle than gaseous diborane (B₂H₆). Standard safety precautions for pyrophoric and moisture-sensitive reagents must be observed, including handling under an inert atmosphere (e.g., nitrogen or argon) and in a well-ventilated fume hood.
