    Product Description:
Copper(II) acetylacetonate (Cu(acac)₂, CAS 13395-16-9) is a coordination complex where copper(II) ions are chelated by two acetylacetonate ligands. It typically appears as a blue-green crystalline solid and is soluble in organic solvents. Its primary applications are in materials science and catalysis. It serves as a crucial precursor for the synthesis of copper oxide (CuO) and copper (Cu) nanoparticles via chemical vapor deposition (CVD), sol-gel processes, or thermal decomposition. These materials are integral to the fabrication of thin films for gas sensors, solar cells, and superconducting materials. Furthermore, Cu(acac)₂ is a versatile catalyst in organic synthesis, particularly for oxidation reactions, cross-coupling reactions (e.g., the Glaser-Hay coupling of terminal alkynes), and polymerization reactions. The compound is also used as a catalyst in fuel cells and as a hardening agent for specific polymers and resins. It must be handled with care as it is harmful if swallowed or inhaled and may cause skin and eye irritation.
