    Product Description:
Cupric oxide (CuO, CAS 1317-38-0) is a black to brownish-black inorganic compound with a monoclinic crystal structure. It is a p-type semiconductor with a narrow band gap of approximately 1.2-1.9 eV, exhibiting paramagnetic properties. Its primary industrial application is as a precursor for the synthesis of various copper-based functional materials, including catalysts, superconductors, and ceramics. In the field of energy storage, CuO is extensively investigated as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries due to its high theoretical capacity (674 mAh/g) and as an additive to enhance the electrochemical performance of electrodes. It also serves as a pigment for ceramics, glass, and antifouling paints, and as a polishing agent for optical lenses. Cupric oxide is insoluble in water but soluble in acids and ammonium hydroxide. It is classified as a hazardous substance, being harmful if swallowed and irritating to the eyes and respiratory system. Its high thermal stability and redox activity make it a versatile material in both industrial manufacturing and advanced materials research.
