    Product Description:
Prednisolone sodium phosphate is a water-soluble phosphate ester salt of prednisolone, a synthetic glucocorticoid. It is a white to off-white, crystalline powder that is highly soluble in water, which distinguishes it from the parent compound prednisolone. This enhanced solubility is a key feature for its pharmaceutical formulation. Its primary application is as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in injectable and ophthalmic solutions. It exerts potent anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and anti-allergic effects by modulating gene expression via binding to glucocorticoid receptors. It is used to treat severe inflammatory conditions, allergic reactions, and certain autoimmune diseases where rapid systemic or local effect is required. The sodium phosphate salt form is specifically utilized to enable aqueous parenteral and topical formulations. From a formulation perspective, the salt itself acts as a critical component to achieve drug solubility, functioning in a role analogous to a co-solvent or solubilizing agent. It is not a general-purpose chemical reagent or building block, and its use is almost exclusively confined to the pharmaceutical industry as a finished drug substance or a direct precursor in sterile dosage forms.
