    Product Description:
Losartan potassium is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB) used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). It is the potassium salt of losartan, a non-peptide tetrazole derivative. This compound acts by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby inhibiting its vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects. Its primary and well-defined application is in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and for the reduction of stroke risk in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy. It is also used in the management of diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes. As a key cardiovascular drug, it is formulated into various oral dosage forms, most commonly tablets. Losartan potassium is not considered a generic synthetic building block or a basic research reagent. Its development, production, and use are strictly governed by pharmaceutical regulations, solidifying its classification as a cardiovascular API.
