    Product Description:
Phenoxyethanol, also known as ethylene glycol monophenyl ether, is an organic compound with the formula C6H5OC2H4OH. It is a colorless, slightly viscous liquid with a faint aromatic odor. It is miscible with water and many organic solvents. Phenoxyethanol is widely used as a preservative and bactericide in cosmetic and personal care products, such as creams, lotions, shampoos, and makeup, typically at concentrations of 0.5% to 1.0%. It is effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Beyond cosmetics, it serves as a solvent, fixative, and fragrance ingredient. In industrial applications, it is used as a solvent for resins, dyes, and inks, and as a coalescing agent in paints and coatings. It is considered to have low toxicity but can cause skin and eye irritation at high concentrations. Regulatory bodies like the EU and FDA approve its use as a preservative within specified limits. Its stability, broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, and solvent properties make it a versatile ingredient across multiple industries.
