    Product Description:
Ethyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, commonly known as ethylparaben, is an ester of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid. It is a white crystalline powder with the molecular formula C9H10O3 and a CAS number of 120-47-8. It is slightly soluble in water but readily soluble in alcohols and ethers. Its primary and most significant application is as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial preservative. It functions by inhibiting the growth of mold, yeast, and bacteria, thereby extending the shelf life of products. It is widely used in the cosmetics and personal care industry (e.g., creams, lotions, shampoos) and is also approved as a food additive (E214) for use in certain foodstuffs and beverages. As a member of the paraben family, its safety profile has been extensively studied and reviewed by regulatory bodies worldwide. While generally recognized as safe at low concentrations, its use is subject to concentration limits in cosmetic formulations. It is often used in combination with other parabens or preservatives to achieve a synergistic antimicrobial effect.
