    Product Description:
Α-Tropine, also known as tropine, is a bicyclic amino alcohol with the chemical formula C8H15NO. It is a key structural component of the tropane alkaloid family, featuring a fused azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane ring system. This compound is a white crystalline solid at room temperature. Its primary and most significant application is as a crucial intermediate in the pharmaceutical synthesis of important anticholinergic drugs. Most notably, it is a direct precursor in the manufacturing of atropine and scopolamine (hyoscine). These drugs are active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) used in various therapeutic areas, including as pre-anesthetic agents to reduce secretions, as antidotes for certain poisonings, and in the treatment of motion sickness and gastrointestinal spasms. Due to its specific and high-value role in producing these established nervous system drugs, α-tropine is predominantly classified as a pharmaceutical intermediate. Its use is largely confined to specialized organic synthesis within the fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries, rather than as a general-purpose building block or reagent.
