    Product Description:
Oxacillin sodium salt is a semisynthetic, penicillinase-resistant penicillin antibiotic. It is the sodium salt of oxacillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic characterized by an isoxazolyl side chain, which confers resistance to degradation by staphylococcal beta-lactamase enzymes. Its primary and most significant application is as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) for the treatment of infections caused by penicillinase-producing staphylococci. It is specifically indicated for skin and soft tissue infections, respiratory tract infections, and other susceptible bacterial infections. While its core use is anti-infective, oxacillin has also been investigated in research contexts for potential effects within the central nervous system, particularly in models related to neuroinflammation and blood-brain barrier function, though this is not its primary clinical indication. The compound is typically administered via intramuscular or intravenous injection. As with other penicillins, hypersensitivity reactions are a key safety concern. It is commercially available as a sterile powder for injection.
