    Product Description:
Glyphosate is a broad-spectrum, non-selective systemic herbicide and crop desiccant. It is an organophosphorus compound, specifically a phosphonic acid derivative. Its chemical name is N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine. Glyphosate is the active ingredient in numerous herbicide formulations, most notably Roundup. It works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS), which is crucial for the synthesis of aromatic amino acids in plants, a pathway not present in animals. This makes it a highly effective post-emergence herbicide used extensively in agriculture, horticulture, and for weed control in non-crop areas. It is also a key intermediate in the synthesis of other glyphosate-based agrochemicals. Its widespread use has made it one of the most commercially important agrochemicals globally. However, its environmental persistence, potential impact on non-target organisms, and classification by some agencies as a probable human carcinogen have led to significant regulatory scrutiny and debate.
