    Product Description:
2-(2-Hydroxypropoxy)-1-propanol, also known as dipropylene glycol (DPG), is a colorless, hygroscopic liquid with a mild odor. It is a mixture of three isomers, primarily consisting of 4-oxa-2,6-heptanediol. Its chemical structure features two ether linkages and two hydroxyl groups, contributing to its excellent solvent properties and humectancy. This compound is widely used as a solvent, coupling agent, and humectant across various industries. In cosmetics and personal care products, it serves as a skin conditioning agent, fragrance ingredient, and solvent, helping to retain moisture and improve product texture. In industrial applications, it is utilized as a solvent for dyes, inks, and resins, and as a component in hydraulic fluids and brake fluids. Its low volatility and good water solubility make it a versatile ingredient. DPG is generally recognized as safe for use in cosmetics and is considered to have low acute toxicity. However, prolonged or repeated skin contact should be avoided. Its primary commercial value lies in its multifunctional role as a mild, effective, and relatively inexpensive glycol ether solvent and humectant.
