    Product Description:
Lactose monohydrate is a disaccharide sugar composed of galactose and glucose units, commonly occurring as a white to off-white crystalline powder. It is the most widely used excipient in the pharmaceutical industry, primarily valued for its excellent compressibility, flowability, and inertness. Its primary and most significant application is as a filler/diluent in the manufacture of solid oral dosage forms, such as tablets and capsules. It serves as a bulking agent to provide adequate tablet weight and size for accurate dosing and handling. Additionally, it acts as a carrier for dry powder inhalers (DPIs) due to its suitable particle size distribution and ability to blend uniformly with active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Beyond its pharmaceutical role, lactose monohydrate is also a common ingredient in infant formula and various food products. In chemical synthesis, it can serve as a chiral starting material or precursor for the production of other sugar derivatives and lactulose.
